Since 2021, Glo has supported the Daughters Rising Foundation, dedicated to educating and empowering girls of the Karen ethnic group in Thailand, with donations amounting to €60,000.
How the Story Began
Four years ago, Ixone Elosegui, co-founder of Glo, discovered the project led by Daughters Rising in the indigenous areas of northern Thailand. The foundation works to prevent the trafficking of Karen girls through education and empowerment. Ixone was so moved by their mission that since 2021, Glo has actively supported the NGO. With every purchase you make, a portion of the sale is donated to this foundation.
The Karen Ethnic Group and Their Struggles
The Daughters Rising Foundation is located in northern Thailand, near the Golden Triangle, where Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar meet. This is a region that is both strategically important and deeply conflicted.
The Karen people have been heavily persecuted in Myanmar. The girls who benefit from these scholarships come from mountainous villages or refugee camps, where much of the Karen population currently lives.
"We often take for granted the right to education because it has long been assumed for us. But when you see that access to a school scholarship can save these girls from ending up in a brothel, you realize how privileged we are."
Many of these girls, after completing university training (as nurses, teachers, doctors...), return to their home villages, determined to improve their communities.

Karen Solidarity Bags
In the summer of 2024, we launched our first "Karen Solidarity Bags." These carry more meaning than just a summer accessory — they are made with traditional Karen fabrics. Handwoven on their looms, each piece is unique and a celebration of their culture. During that summer, customers who made purchases over €100 on our website received one as a gift. This initiative complements everything Glo does to showcase the foundation's impact on Karen women.

Christmas Ornaments
A Christmas tree handcrafted from the traditional fabrics worn by Karen women. The tree, blessed by the village's Spirit Man in Chiang Mai, carries magic and blessings to protect homes and loved ones.
