Aromatherapy is an ancient art and science that uses natural plant extracts to improve health and well-being. It’s been used for thousands of years and is documented in ancient Chinese, Indian and Egyptian cultures. In Europe, there are records of essential oils being distilled in Germany in the 16th century, and French physicians using them in the 19th century.
Aromatherapy oils, otherwise known as essential oils are used both on the skin and through inhalation giving you many benefits; physical, emotional and psychological. There are currently almost 100 different essential oils available each of which has a range of properties and benefits, and they can be combined to create synergies that make them even more effective.
At Glo we think the benefits of aromatherapy are huge, and so we created Oil910 which contains a blend of six essential oils with powerful fat burning and detoxifying properties. We’re very proud of our oil and wanted to share some of the secrets of this blend with you.
Grapefruit essential oil
Grapefruit essential oil has a lively, crisp aroma and may help to reduce appetite, improve digestion and aid weight-loss. Studies have shown that grapefruit essential oil can help prevent the formation of fatty tissue and promote weight loss, both in the lab and in studies with humans. This is why we decided it was a vital ingredient for our anti-cellulite Oil910.
The antimicrobial and antibacterial properties of grapefruit essential oil can help keep your skin healthy and acne-free. The oil may also help lower blood pressure and reduce stress. Scientists believe this may be down to the compound limonene which can be found in several essential oils, especially citrus oils.
As well as the physical benefits grapefruit essential oil can help to balance your mood, reducing anxiety and depression. This is true of citrus oils, again thanks to the compound limonene.
Mandarin essential oil
Mandarin is another citrus essential oil, so smells good enough to eat! It’s also a mild antiseptic with many benefits for the skin, including brightening, fighting acne and helping to give you a youthful appearance. It may also help scars and stretch marks to fade, helping you look your best.
When fighting cellulite it’s important to boost your circulation and mandarin essential oil does just that. It can also improve your digestion and balance your appetite, although we can’t promise it won’t make you want to grab the fruit basket after smelling it.
Mandarin oil is also a great stress reliever, helping to calm and relax you, and can also help you sleep. Another side benefit is that it has antispasmodic properties so can help relieve muscle spasms, reducing pain.
Eucalyptus essential oil
You probably recognize the smell of eucalyptus essential oil from various natural cold remedies and decongestant products, as it’s great for relieving coughs and clearing your airways. This isn’t why we used it in Oil910 but it could be a great added benefit during the cold season. The reason we chose Eucalyptus essential oil is that it has anti-inflammatory properties which make it a great addition to our anti-cellulite oil.
One other benefit you might want to know about, especially if you live in a tropical country, is that eucalyptus oil makes a great insect repellent so you can not only smell great and reduce your cellulite but also keep the bugs away!
Orange essential oil
Orange essential oil is another citrus oil and so has many of the same benefits as grapefruit and mandarin. It can balance your mood and aid sleep, and also reduce muscle spasms, relieve inflammation and has antiseptic properties.
Two other properties of orange oil you may not be aware of are that it can act as a mild aphrodisiac and help regulate your periods. It can also help with detoxification which is great for the skin and keeping cellulite at bay, and it also helps keep your skin smooth and healthy.
Pink geranium essential oil
The pink geranium essential oil has antioxidant and anti-aging properties and is often used in cosmetic products. Antioxidants are an important component of our anti-cellulite oil, helping your skin repair itself. This oil also has anti-inflammatory properties, another useful tool in the fight against cellulite.
Like many other essential oils, pink geranium oil has antimicrobial, antifungal, and antiviral properties, which help keep skin healthy. The aroma also aids relaxation, and when you apply the oil to your skin it can help tighten, brighten and remove dead skin cells, making your skin glow with health and vitality.
Siberian fir essential oil
Siberian fir essential oil has a wonderful scent that makes you feel like you’re in the middle of a forest - what could be more relaxing than that! But that’s not the only reason we added it to our Oil910. This essential oil can also help improve your metabolism and aid detoxification, both of which help keep cellulite away. It also has mild anti-inflammatory properties which also help relieve cellulite.
Like many of the other essential oils in Oil910 Siberian fir has some antibacterial and antimicrobial properties which will help keep your skin healthy. It can also help relieve mild aches and pains, which could be especially useful if you’ve been working out a lot!
So why not bring the benefits of aromatherapy into your skin-care and anti-cellulite routine today, with Oil910.
